Indonesia’s travel and tourism services industry is an increasingly important
component of Indonesia's national income and foreign exchange earnings.
Improved airports, expanded air carrier service from abroad, and the
development of hotels, resort areas, and other tourism infrastructure support the
industry's growth. Expanding and upgrading the country's general infrastructure,
particularly its telecommunications and transportation facilities, are top
developmental priorities and integral to the Government of Indonesia’s efforts to
support the growth of tourism industry in Indonesia.
Best prospects in the Indonesian automotive industry are nonsedan 4x2
passenger cars and trucks. In Indonesia, the Government sets import duties and
luxury taxes based on engine capacity. The smaller the engine capacity is, the
lower the import duties and luxury taxes are. Thus, small-engine cars, which are
imported either in the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) or CBU condition, have
competitive advantages in terms of import taxes in the Indonesian market.
